Materials and Techniques

We try to use, as much as we can, real, durable artist materials, so that the best works can last and record the creative steps of the child.

Colored and different grades pencils are used instead of crayons. Artist paint, primary colors and black and white, and watercolors, acid-free type of papers and boards are used as alternative to copy and construction paper.

Collages have combined all sort of materials: papers and fabrics, colored rice and dry pasta, seeds and Autumns leaves.

We have designed special stencils, rubber stamps and cut sponges for our first printing classes. Last year we made small silk-screens from line drawings of the children, showing the full process, and we printed hand-dyed T-shirts and abstract prints on paper.

3-D works have been in different media, from recycled everyday materials that the child has collected, to real low-fire clay and glazes, to boards cut in different geometric shapes, and to ripped papers glued together.
